Pay Attention

We get so wrapped up in the busyness of life that we sometimes forget to look and learn. And life, every day, has so much to teach us. We can learn about beauty and peace. We can learn about pain and sorrow. We can learn about how the world works even in the midst of our mundane lives. But we have to realize there is something to see and hear and experience, otherwise it all just passes us by and we are alone in our own little world.

Listen today. Listen to the sounds around you – the birds and the traffic and the wind in the trees – the office sounds, the different sounds of people’s voices mingling together. Listen to a song on the radio (or better, turn it off for a while and listen for other sounds)

Look around you. See other people. See the how vivid some colors are. See shapes and sizes and how they relate and fit together. Look at a piece of art. Notice the textures and tones.

Experience the warmth of the sun on your skin. Feel the gentle breeze. Notice the pull of your muscles as you walk and turn and bend.

Today – Pay attention to your senses and enjoy some of life that is always there and so seldom noticed. You’ll find it refreshing.
