Self Control

Compared to most things you might attempt in life, self-control is relatively simple – yet one of the most important aspects of living successfully.

Self-control requires no other person’s permission, cooperation nor assistance. It requires no special training, knowledge, skill or equipment. What it does require, however, is a mental decision. It requires that we WANT to be self-possessed and in control of our emotions and actions and attitudes and words. And that, it seems, is somewhat rare in our world. Most of us tend to be reactionaries. We act before we think – or form opinions at first impressions or find words coming out of our mouths before considering the consequences or how they will affect the hearer.

A lack of self-control can get a person into trouble. Having it never does.

Today – Think before you speak, before you act, before you decide, before you make conclusions. It’ll be a much better day.
