Announcing Goals

Continuing on with the idea of failure being a motivator - how about success? When you have an idea or a new project in mind or a business venture you are willing to put yourself on the line for, tell someone. We've already asked the question: If you could not fail, what would you attempt? Now the corollary question: What would you announce to the world if you knew you could succeed?

There is such a thing as accountability. It works. At work you are accountable and thus you get your job done and done well. In our personal lives we tend only to be accountable to ourselves. But too often, when we find the going tough or more than we expected, it is easy to let it go. If we tell someone of our plans, even if they are not demanding or have the status to insist we continue, we are more motivated to keep at it.

So tell trusted friends what your hopes and dreams are. Don't tell everyone - there are too many nay-sayers and negative people out thereto put yourself in their sights, but tell someone you trust. You will be constantly motivated to achieve simply because someone knows enough to watch.
