Listen to Good Advice

There is an old saying: “Advice is Cheap.” I’m sure it was first said by someone who listened to someone’s opinion as to what he (the listener) should do or shouldn’t do and knowing it was just so much hot air.

We all need advice from time to time though. We need to know which direction we should go – what we need to look out for, how to do certain things… But the best advice in the world is valuable if you are first looking for the answers within yourself. No one knows you better than you. No one knows your fears and gifts and what gives you satisfaction or contentment better than you. Advice from a trusted friend or associate can only expand our perspective. It is up to you to choose what is best for your unique situation. The best course of action is to avoid plugging yourself into someone else’s formula. You aren’t them and they don’t know all that is you.

Speak with your own voice. Think with  your own mind. Act in accordance with  your own vision. Live in such a way as to be the solution to your own problems and the answer to your own questions. Listen to the advice of others, but do so with an eye to tailoring whatever the advice may be to the person you know you are.
