Back to the Garden

Sometimes we think that people somehow “learn” faith. They are exposed to it as children – it is demonstrated - and it develops like reading or writing. That’s not true. Faith is part of who we are as human beings. Faith is normal and natural. It is people who have no faith who have had to learn their perspective. THEY are the ones who have forgone the natural for the unnatural. Cynicism is unnatural. Agnosticism has to be learned Atheism is a decision to go against what is ingrained.

Love, joy, courage, faith, enthusiasm, optimism – these are the qualities of an emotionally healthy person. Doubt, unbelief, skepticism, and a critical spirit lead to a lower life experience and are not in God’s plan for our lives. These things were learned along the way and need to be kept in check.  You and I were created to be believers in the good, in hope, in God. That’s why you feel so good when you are optimistic and so terrible when you take a negative perspective of the world and your own life.

Breath in the fresh and refreshing air of optimism and faith and breath out the pollution of negativity and cynicism. Your life will better for it. You will have gotten “back to the garden.”
