Inertia

One of the physical laws I learned as a youngster in science class that has always intrigued me is the law of INERTIA. “A body in motion tends to remain in motion until acted upon by some outside force.” I’m not sure that is stated exactly as I learned it but its pretty close. The converse is also a law: “An object at rest remains at rest until acted upon by some outside force.” Even though these “laws” apply to the physical world of “things,” it also applies to our lives. Getting started on a project or course of action or working toward a goal is the hardest part. It is sometimes almost impossible to overcome our internal inertia and get going because we are the outside force as well as the object that needs moving. Fortunately,
we CAN be both. We simply have decide to do it and get going.

Once we have gotten started, we must guard against all the “outside forces” that work diligently to slow or stop our inertia. We must crank up our determination and call on our deep desire for success and keep going.

Today – Overcome inertia – figure out what is keeping you from getting started on that new project or goal and neutralize it. Go.
